Homework: Produce & Publish Your 1st UGC Video

A script that exists as a document produces no data this homework ends with one complete UGC video live on at least one platform

A UGC script that exists as a document does not produce data. A video that is not published does not reach anyone. This homework ends with one complete UGC video live on at least one platform.

The goal is not a perfect video. The goal is a published video with data you can learn from.

What You Are Building

A completed UGC.md with the first four sections filled in. A bank of 10 hooks written and filtered to your top 3. One complete UGC script with three variations covering problem-first, outcome-first, and question hook. One finished video edited, captioned, and exported at the correct aspect ratio. The video published on Instagram Reels, TikTok, or Facebook Reels, or uploaded as a Meta dark post if you are running it as an ad. And one post in the Claude Code and Codex Mastery community with your result.

Part 1: Complete UGC.md

Fill in the first four sections using the template from the UGC.md lesson.

What I'm Selling and for Whom as one specific paragraph. If it could describe any other builder it is too vague.

Target Audience with their frustration written in their language using the words they would say to a friend and not the words you would use in a proposal.

Platforms covering where you are publishing first.

Proof Points with one specific result or own-experience proof.

Run this feedback prompt before moving on:

Using @SALES.MD and @MARKETING.MD — review my UGC.md draft and tell me

what is too vague, missing, or needs more specificity before I write my

first script.

[PASTE YOUR UGC.md]

Part 2: Write 10 Hooks

Run the 10-hook batch prompt from the hooks lesson with your completed UGC.md:

Using @UGC.md — write 10 video hooks for a Problem/Solution Talking Head

UGC video for [PLATFORM]. Two in each style: mid-sentence start, direct

question, contrarian statement, specific outcome, and identity address.

Rate each 1 to 10 for pattern interrupt strength.

Filter to your top 3 using these three tests.

Specificity: could this apply to any builder or only to you and your specific audience?

Emotion: does it create recognition, curiosity, or mild urgency?

The real person test: would an actual person say this to a friend?

Add all 10 to the Hook Bank in UGC.md and mark them as Untested.

Part 3: Write the Full Script

Take your top hook and run the full script prompt from the writing lesson:

Using @UGC.md and @SALES.MD — write a UGC script in the Problem/Solution

Talking Head format for [PLATFORM].
Use this hook: "[YOUR TOP HOOK]"
Proof to include: [YOUR SPECIFIC METRIC FROM UGC.MD]

CTA: [ONE ACTION — what do you want the viewer to do?]

Length target: 30 to 45 seconds

Write three versions:

  1. Problem-first (start with their frustration)
  2. Outcome-first (start with the result)
  3. Question hook using the direct-question style

Under each version note the word count and approximate duration.

Then run the naturalising prompt from the writing lesson on your chosen version. Read it aloud before moving to production. If any sentence sounds like marketing copy it needs one more round.

Save the final script in UGC.md under Scripts.

Part 4: Produce the Video

Choose your production method.

Option A: HeyGen Avatar (recommended for first video)

Set up the HeyGen Creator plan at $29 per month. Paste your final script. Select an avatar appropriate for your audience. Preview and adjust if needed. Render and download the MP4.

Option B: Screen Recording with ElevenLabs Voice

Record the screen showing your system, a before and after, or a walkthrough. Generate voice-over in ElevenLabs from your script. Proceed to CapCut for assembly.

Option C: Your Own Camera

Read the script but do not read it robotically. Internalise the structure and speak naturally. A phone camera on a tripod is fine. One take is fine if it sounds natural and do not over-polish.

Regardless of which option you choose: import to CapCut, add auto-captions and style them, export at 1080 by 1920 for Reels, and name the file using this format: offer then format then hook type then v1 then month and year.

Part 5: Publish and Report

Publish the video on at least one platform. If you are running it as an ad set it up as a dark post in Meta Ads Manager as covered in the ad creative lesson.

Let it run for 7 days before drawing conclusions.

Post in the Claude Code and Codex Mastery community with the title "AI UGC — First Video Published."

Share five things: the format you chose from talking head, screen recording, or own camera, the hook you used pasted as the first line, which platform you published on, the tool you used for production, and what surprised you in the process.

After 7 days reply to your post with the organic metrics covering views, saves, and comments, or the ad metrics covering 3-second view rate, CTR, and CPL if you ran it as an ad, plus one thing you would change in the next video.

Bonus: Write a Client UGC Brief

If you have a current or prospective client who could benefit from UGC content for their own business, use the creator brief prompt from the real creators lesson to produce a brief for them:

Using @UGC.md — write a UGC creator brief for a client who runs a

[TYPE OF BUSINESS] and wants to produce a 30-second [FORMAT] video

for Instagram Reels.

Their offer: [describe]

Their audience: [describe]

Proof they have: [describe]

CTA they want: [describe]

Include: brand overview, video objective, hook guidelines, key messages,

what to avoid, technical specs, revision policy, and usage rights required.

A client UGC brief produced in 15 minutes demonstrates the value of your working method before a proposal is written. It becomes an asset in your sales process.

You Are Ready to Produce Video Content

With a completed UGC.md, a tested hook bank, a naturalised script, and one published video you have a repeatable content production system.

Every video you produce from here builds on this foundation. The hook bank grows. Scripts compound. The content log tells you what is working. The next video is faster and better-targeted than the first.

AI Ads with Claude is the next course where you take the best-performing UGC you produce here and put paid budget behind it. The creative work is done. What remains is the distribution.
