Build a 1-Person AI Business with Claude/AI UGC Video with Claude

Course 12 · Lesson 9 of 14

Working with Real UGC Creators

When to use a real human instead of an AI avatar and how to brief them so the video is usable on the first delivery

AI-generated avatars are efficient and scalable. Real human creators are more authentic, require no AI disclosure, and capture nuance that current avatars cannot. This lesson covers when to use real creators, where to find them, how to brief them with Claude, and what usage rights to negotiate.

When Real Creators Beat AI Avatars

Real creators consistently outperform AI avatars in two situations.

When emotional delivery matters: A person describing genuine relief, genuine surprise, or genuine frustration cannot be matched by an avatar. If your script calls for visible emotion such as the client who was overwhelmed and now is not, a real person delivers that more convincingly.

When the audience is skeptical: Some niches and audiences have become aware of AI-generated content and actively notice it. High-ticket B2B, medical, financial, and professional services audiences tend to have more media literacy. For these audiences a real person on camera builds more trust.

For most CCM builders starting out: AI avatars are the right first step. Move to real creators when you have a script that works and has already been validated with avatars and you want to amplify a proven angle.

Where to Find UGC Creators

Billo at $99 per video as a baseline

Billo is a marketplace specifically for UGC creators. You post your brief, creators apply, you select one, they film and deliver. Billo handles usage rights as part of the transaction and you own the video once it is delivered.

The process works as follows. Sign up at Billo as a brand. Create a campaign with your brief. Set the deliverable covering video length, style, platform, and revisions. Select from applicants by reviewing their profile, past work, and audience demographic. The creator films and delivers within the agreed timeline which is usually 5 to 7 days. You download the raw file and edit in CapCut.

Pricing is $99 per video for a single video with bundle pricing available for volume. Creators are based in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia only.

Fiverr at £30 to £150 per video

Search "UGC video creator" or "UGC ad creator" on Fiverr. Prices vary by creator experience, video length, and number of revisions. The quality range is wide so review samples carefully. Fiverr creators do not go through Billo's vetting but costs are lower and turnaround is faster.

Use Fiverr when you need a specific type of person that is not available on Billo or when you want to test quickly at lower cost before committing to higher-quality production.

Direct outreach to micro-creators

Search Instagram or TikTok for creators in your niche with 5,000 to 50,000 followers. People in this range are typically open to paid UGC work and charge £50 to £200 per video depending on their following and experience.

Use this approach when you need a very specific demographic fit such as a real salon owner talking about booking systems and marketplace options do not have the right profile.

The Creator Brief: Writing It with Claude

The creator brief determines whether the video is usable. A vague brief produces an off-message video. A specific brief produces content you can run immediately.

Use this prompt:

Using @UGC.md and @SALES.MD — write a UGC creator brief for a

[FORMAT] video about my offer.

The brief should cover:

  1. Brand overview (2 to 3 sentences about what I do and for whom)
  2. Video objective (what this video should make the viewer do)
  3. Format and platform (30-second Reels, 60-second Reels, etc.)
  4. The hook to use (pull from UGC.md if we have tested hooks, or write one)
  5. Key messages to include (3 to 4 bullets — creator should sound natural)
  6. What NOT to say (common mistakes and jargon to avoid)
  7. Proof point to mention (specific result or outcome)
  8. CTA (exact words such as "link in bio" or "comment X")
  9. Technical specs (resolution, aspect ratio, length, music allowed yes or no)
  10. Revision policy (how many rounds)
  11. Usage rights required (Meta ads plus organic, perpetual usage)

Do not write a word-for-word script — creators should speak in their

natural voice. Write guidelines and not a transcript.

What to Include in Every Brief

Do include: one specific hook line you want them to open with where they can adapt it but need a starting point, the exact problem they should describe in the audience's language and not yours, the outcome to mention with your actual number without inflating it, the CTA word for word so you get consistency across creators, technical specs in a checklist format because creators miss details if they have to read paragraphs, and your usage rights requirements clearly stated as "You grant us full rights to use this video as paid advertising content in perpetuity."

Do not include: a word-for-word script because it produces robotic delivery, jargon or technical terms your audience would not use, more than 3 to 4 key message points because creators cannot remember more than that, or open-ended creative direction like "just be authentic" without any structure.

Usage Rights: What to Negotiate

What you need for Meta ads is unlimited usage rights for the specific video delivered, perpetual rather than time-limited, and paid advertising explicitly included.

What creators typically expect varies by platform. Billo includes usage rights in the fee by default but read the terms to confirm. Fiverr rights depend on the seller's package where standard packages often include commercial use but exclude paid advertising so upgrade or specify in writing before payment. For direct outreach negotiate in writing before filming using the phrase "paid UGC usage rights, unlimited duration" in the agreement and most micro-creators will agree for an additional £20 to £50 on top of the base fee.

What happens without rights: you cannot legally run the video as a paid ad. If the creator sees their video in an ad they did not consent to they can file a DMCA claim with Meta which removes the ad and can trigger policy strikes on your account. Get it in writing every time.

Reviewing Creator Deliverables

When a creator delivers a video review it against the brief before payment or approval.

Check that the length is correct. Confirm it opens with the agreed hook or a close variation. Verify the problem is described in audience language. Confirm the outcome is mentioned with the correct number. Check the CTA is stated correctly. Verify the aspect ratio is 9:16 for Reels. Confirm the lighting is adequate and the face is clearly visible. Check the audio is clean with no background noise and no clipping.

If a key element is missing use your revision round to fix it. Most platforms give at least one revision. Be specific in the feedback. Not "it could be better" but "the CTA was 'check the link' but we need 'link in bio' so please re-record the last 5 seconds."
