Homework: Build, Launch, and Get Your First Lead

This is the homework for Landing Pages.

There is no way to truly learn this skill without doing it for real. A landing page that is not live is just a file. A live landing page with a working form can generate real leads, including from people right here in this community.

This homework gets you there.

What you are building

A complete live landing page with a real offer for a real audience, copy that follows PAS and benefits-first principles, a working lead capture form via Netlify Forms, a thank-you page, and a live URL.

Part 1: Define your offer

Write down three things before you open Claude Code.

Who this page is for in one sentence. What they get, which is your lead magnet or offer. And what the one action is, meaning what happens when they click the button.

If you are not sure what to offer, use this default: build a landing page for "The 10 Claude Code Prompts That Save Me Hours Every Week," a free checklist of your most useful Claude prompts. Your audience for this course is your target visitor.

Part 2: Write your core copy

Before opening Claude Code, write four things by hand or in a notes document.

Your headline using one of the formulas from the headline lesson. Your problem statement in two to three sentences written in the visitor's language describing their frustration. Four benefits written as outcomes not features. And your CTA button text that is specific and not just "Submit."

If you get stuck, use the Claude headline generator prompt from the headline lesson and the Claude copy prompt from the copy lesson.

Part 3: Build with the master prompt

Open Claude Code. Create a new folder called my-landing-page. Add your CLAUDE.md with design rules inside it.

Run the master build prompt from the build lesson with your real content filled in. When Claude finishes, open the page in your browser. Does it look right? Does the offer make sense in five seconds?

Part 4: Create your lead magnet

Build the actual thing you are giving away. Ask Claude to generate it:

Create a [checklist, template, or cheat sheet] called "[YOUR TITLE]".
Target audience: [WHO THEY ARE]
The specific problem this solves: [THE PROBLEM]
The outcome they get from using it: [THE RESULT]

Format it as clean text I can copy into a Google Doc and export as PDF.

Copy the content into a Google Doc. Format it cleanly. Export as a PDF. That file is what people receive when they submit the form.

Part 5: Connect the form and deploy

Verify the form has all the correct Netlify attributes as covered in the lead capture lesson. Ask Claude to create your thank-you page. Deploy to app.netlify.com/drop by dragging your project folder. Enable email notifications in your Netlify Forms dashboard. Then send yourself a live test submission.

When the test submission arrives in your inbox, your landing page is fully functional and ready to receive real leads.

Part 6: Run the pre-launch checklist

Go through every item from the checklist lesson against your live page.

Fix anything that fails. Send the URL to one person and ask them: "What do you think this page is offering?" If their answer is wrong, improve the hero section before sharing the page anywhere else.

Post in the community

Once your landing page is live, go to the Claude Codex Mastery community and create a post titled "Landing Pages Homework." Share your live Netlify URL. Share your lead magnet title. Write one sentence about what you learned building it, what surprised you, what you had to fix, or what clicked that had not clicked before.

This community has members who are exactly your target audience for many offers. If your lead magnet is relevant to them, some of them will sign up. Real leads from your first landing page.

Bonus: make it convert better

If you want to push further after completing the core homework, try one of these additions.

Add a countdown timer:

Add a simple countdown timer to the CTA section.

Display: "Offer closes in [HOURS]:[MINUTES]:[SECONDS]"

Timer counts down from 48 hours from when the page loads.

Small clean display below the CTA heading and above the form.

Use plain JavaScript with no external libraries.

Add an animated progress bar:

Below the hero headline add a small animated progress bar with text:

"[NUMBER] spots taken out of [TOTAL] — [REMAINING] remaining"
Use values I can easily update: [YOUR NUMBERS]

Subtle animation on page load. Keep it clean and minimal.

Add a sticky CTA bar:

Add a sticky bar that appears at the top of the page after the user

scrolls past the hero section. It should contain:

- A short text: "[SHORT VERSION OF OFFER]"
- A small CTA button: "[CTA TEXT]" linking to #lead-capture
Background: accent colour [HEX] with contrasting text colour.

Hide it on mobile to avoid overcrowding the small screen.

You are ready for Track 5

With a live landing page collecting leads you have built something that works for you while you sleep.

Move to Track 5: Web Apps when you are ready to build something that responds, calculates, and interacts with users in real time.
