Build a 1-Person AI Business with Claude/Outbound Email with Claude

Course 11 · Lesson 13 of 14

Course Summary: Outbound Email with Claude

You now have a complete outbound email system from infrastructure and list-building to writing, sending, and improving every week

Here is everything in this course and how it fits together.

What You Learned

Outbound email is different

Generic bulk email is spam. Signal-based precision outbound is a conversation starter. The difference is one real observation per email, something you could only write about this specific person. Signal-based campaigns achieve 5 to 18% reply rates versus 1 to 3% for templates.

The 30/30/50 rule

30% on the right list. 30% on the right first email. 50% on the follow-up sequence. Most people spend 90% on the email and skip the follow-up where 70% of replies actually come from.

Infrastructure setup

Send from a separate domain and never your main business email. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are non-negotiable in 2026. Warm up for 14 or more days before sending. Stay under 40 to 50 emails per day per inbox.

Building your prospect list

Apollo.io free plan with 100 credits per month is enough to start. Four filters: job title, company size, industry, and location. One industry per campaign. Verify before sending. 20 to 50 per week is the right pace because precision beats volume.

Finding signals

Five signal types: LinkedIn activity, new hire or role change, company milestone, published content, and website or tech stack observation. Find one per prospect. The signal is the hook. Without a signal the email is a template.

Writing the first email

Three parts: the hook which is the signal in 1 to 2 sentences, the bridge which is the cost or gap in 1 to 2 sentences, and the ask which is one small reply-or-question and never a call. Under 125 words. No "I hope this email finds you well." No portfolio in the first message.

Subject lines

3 to 7 words. All lower case. The specific thing you noticed, a short question, or just their company name. Avoid all caps, exclamation points, and value-claim language. Reply rate is the metric to track and not open rate.

The follow-up sequence

4 emails on a 2-4-7-14 cadence. Email 2 is a different angle. Email 3 is a value drop using a case study, insight, or useful resource. Email 4 is the break-up which is the last email that leaves the door open. Never "just following up." Never "did you see my email?" Always add something new.

Personalisation at scale

20 hooks in 30 minutes: 10 minutes of research, 10 minutes of batch generation with Claude, and 10 minutes of human review. The hook is unique per person. The bridge and ask are consistent. Always verify Claude's outputs before sending.

Setting up Instantly

Add your sending account, upload your verified list with a hook column, build the 4-step sequence, set daily limits, enable "stop on reply," and test before launch. Check the Unibox daily.

Tracking and improving

Primary metric is reply rate with a target of 5 to 10%. Secondary metric is positive reply rate with a target of 2 to 4%. Monitor bounce rate and keep it under 2%. Change one variable per week. Review on Mondays. Kill campaigns that stay below 1% after 50 or more sends with two tested hooks.

EMAIL.md

Your campaign operating system containing who you serve, what you sell, signals you use, active campaigns, sequence templates, subject lines that performed, and response templates. Referenced at the start of every Claude prompt. Updated after every weekly review.

Your EMAIL.md Checklist

By now EMAIL.md should contain all of the following.

Who I Serve with your ideal prospect profile and disqualifiers. What I Sell with your offer descriptions from SALES.md. Signals I Look For with at least 3 signal types and notes on what to find. Active Campaigns with your current segment, status, and metrics. Sequence Templates with all 4 emails using the hook variable. Subject Lines with tested variants and performance notes. And Response Templates covering positive replies, negative replies, and wrong person replies.

The Outbound Flywheel

When Marketing, Sales, and Outbound Email are all running together the whole system compounds.

Content builds awareness with people who find you. Outbound builds awareness with people who never would. Sales converts conversations from both channels. Happy clients generate referrals, testimonials, and case studies. Case studies become signals for the next outbound campaign. Better signals mean higher reply rates. Higher reply rates mean more conversations. More conversations mean more clients.

Each client you close from outbound becomes material for the next campaign.

What Is Next

Track 2 continues with courses on SEO with Claude Code, AI UGC, and AI Ads.

But before you move forward, run the first campaign. Send the emails. Review the first week of data. Make one change.

A system that is not running is a plan and not a system.
