Build a 1-Person AI Business with Claude/Browser Games

Course 08 · Lesson 2 of 11

Types of Games You Can Build

Every game listed here is buildable in one Claude Code session with the right prompt

Category 1: Card and Memory Games

Memory Match

Flip cards to find matching pairs. Track attempts, time, and best score. The full logic runs in pure HTML and CSS with no canvas drawing required.

Complexity: Low. This is the perfect first game to build.

Concentration / Trivia Cards

Cards with questions on one side and answers on the other. Flip to reveal, tap again to rate yourself. Great for building study tools or educational products.

Complexity: Low.

Solitaire

A classic card game with suit rules, drag and drop, and win detection. More complex to describe precisely but Claude handles the rule logic well when you specify the rules in plain English.

Complexity: Medium.

Category 2: Arcade Games (Canvas)

Snake

Classic grid-based movement, a growing body, food to eat, and walls and self to avoid. Speed increases as score grows. Runs on HTML canvas.

Complexity: Low to Medium. Excellent second game to build.

Brick Breaker / Breakout

A ball bounces off a paddle and breaks bricks. Multiple brick types, lives, and levels. Runs on HTML canvas.

Complexity: Medium.

Pong

Two paddles, one ball, and an AI opponent for single-player mode. Requires canvas and basic AI logic.

Complexity: Medium.

Flappy Bird Clone

Tap to fly, avoid pipes, endless runner format. Gravity physics, gap generation, and difficulty scaling.

Complexity: Medium.

Category 3: Word and Puzzle Games

Wordle Clone

A 5-letter word, 6 guesses, and colour-coded feedback showing green, yellow, and grey. Uses your own word bank. No canvas required, runs on pure DOM manipulation.

Complexity: Low to Medium. Great for educational products.

Sliding Puzzle (15-Puzzle)

A 4x4 grid of numbered tiles with one space missing. Slide tiles to restore order. Generating a solvable starting state is the key challenge.

Complexity: Medium.

Hangman

Classic word guessing with a visual drawing of the hangman. Supports custom word lists and letter-by-letter reveal.

Complexity: Low.

Crossword Generator

A generated crossword built from a list of words and clues you provide. Clickable cells, keyboard input, and completion detection.

Complexity: Medium to High.

Category 4: Clicker and Idle Games

Cookie Clicker Style

Click to earn currency, buy auto-generators, and purchase upgrades that multiply earnings. Progress persists via localStorage. A highly addictive loop that works for any theme.

Complexity: Low to Medium. Excellent for building niche idle games.

Incremental RPG

Auto-battle system, level up, and unlock new abilities. Includes XP curves and multiple stats to manage.

Complexity: Medium.

Category 5: Quiz and Trivia Games

Timed Quiz

10 questions, 30 seconds each, multiple choice, and a leaderboard saved in localStorage. Great for lead generation with an email gate before showing results. This is the same pattern as the AI Readiness Quiz from the Web Apps course extended into a full game experience.

Complexity: Low.

Speed Typing Game

A random sentence appears and the player types it out. WPM and accuracy are calculated in real time. Characters are colour-highlighted as you type.

Complexity: Low to Medium.

How to Choose

If your goal is the fastest to build, choose Memory Match or Timed Quiz.

If your goal is the most impressive to show someone, choose Snake or Brick Breaker.

If your goal is the most useful as a product, choose Wordle Clone or Speed Typing Game.

If your goal is the best for audience engagement, choose the Clicker Game.

If your goal is the best for learning communities, choose Trivia Cards or Hangman.

If you are not sure where to start, build Memory Match first and then Snake. Together they cover the two main patterns in browser game development: DOM-based games and canvas-based games. Once you have built both you have the vocabulary and confidence to build anything else in this list.
