Automating Blog Creation with n8n + OpenAI: From One Word to Full Blog Posts

Imagine typing a single word — and instantly having multiple blog ideas and even complete blog posts ready to publish.

That’s exactly what I set out to build with n8n + OpenAI’s large language models. This automation not only generates endless blog content but also saves it directly into a Google Sheet for easy management. The Problem

Writing blogs consistently is one of the hardest parts of content marketing. You might have the expertise, but coming up with topics, structuring articles, and producing them at scale takes time.

So I thought: what if I could automate the entire process — from idea generation to final blog draft — with just one input?

The Workflow

Here’s how the automation works step by step:

Manual Trigger — I can run this workflow anytime, or later set it up on a schedule.

Input Node — This is where I enter a topic (for example, Arsenal Football Club).

LLM Chain (OpenAI) — The model takes my topic and instantly generates 5 different content ideas.

Code Node (Parsing) — The ideas are cleaned, structured, and looped through so they can be used one by one.

Blog Creation — For each idea, the LLM generates a full blog post with a title and description.

Google Sheets — The blog is saved into a Google Sheet, ready to be published or scheduled.

Real Example: Arsenal Football Club

When I entered “Arsenal Football Club”, the automation generated 5 blog post ideas like:

A deep dive into Arsenal’s best players of the 21st century

An SEO-optimized breakdown of their playing style

Tactical insights on how Arsenal competes in the Premier League
